๐ŸŒฟ A Journey Through Time — Our Field Trip to Krishnapuram Kottaram and Art gallery.

Our field trip to Krishnapuram Kottaram and Art Gallery, near Kayamkulam, was an unforgettable day filled with art, history, and exploration. We began our journey around 11:00 a.m., full of excitement and curiosity. After reaching the destination, we took tickets for everyone and stepped into the historic Krishnapuram Kottaram (Palace), a magnificent monument that spoke of Kerala’s royal past.

Built in the 18th century by Maharaja Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma, the palace stands as a fine example of traditional Kerala architecture, with sloping roofs, wooden windows, and intricate carvings. The beautifully maintained gardens and the serene pond added charm to the surroundings, making the place look like a scene from history itself.

Inside the museum, we explored various sections that displayed ancient sculptures, paintings, coins, weapons, inscriptions, and royal artifacts. The highlight was the famous “Gajendra Moksham” mural painting, one of the largest in Kerala, portraying Lord Vishnu rescuing his devotee elephant. The detailing and color palette of the mural left us in awe. Each exhibit seemed to tell a story about Kerala’s glorious past and its cultural depth.

After exploring the museum, we visited the Krishnapuram Art Gallery, located nearby. The gallery was filled with creative expressions from traditional and modern paintings to intricate sculptures and handicrafts. One of the most fascinating sections featured caricatures drawn by the renowned artist K. Shankar Pillai, which captured humor and social messages through simple yet powerful sketches. We also enjoyed the displays showcasing various dance forms from different Indian states, each represented with vibrant costumes and graceful postures.

The art gallery was truly a celebration of imagination and cultural diversity a place where art spoke in every form and color.

By afternoon, our trip came to an end, leaving us with happy hearts and inspired minds. The visit to Krishnapuram Kottaram, Museum, and Art Gallery gave us not just knowledge but also a deep appreciation for the beauty of Kerala’s heritage and artistic spirit.

It was indeed a day to remember where history, art, and creativity came together in perfect harmony.
